Gurvinder Uppal

Habitats and Fisheries Campaign Officer

Oceana Staff

Gurvinder joined Oceana UK as Habitats and Fisheries Campaign Officer in January 2025.

Gurvinder has always been driven by a passion for protecting the planet, with a particular fascination for oceans and their incredible ecosystems. She’s always felt a deep connection to the ocean, inspiring her studies in Geography during her undergraduate degree and a Masters in International Relations at the University of Portsmouth. Her academic journey sparked a strong interest in the intersection of climate issues, ocean conservation, policy, and their real-world impacts.

Gurvinder has since been working with impact-driven organisations like Greenpeace and Climate Strategies, where she has been involved in campaigns focused on ocean protection, plastic pollution and climate justice. She is particularly interested in how policy can drive meaningful change, advocating for solutions that protect the environment and improve people’s lives.

Beyond work, Gurvinder enjoys swimming, surfing and reconnecting with nature.
