Sophie joined Oceana UK as Digital Communications Officer in October 2023.

Sophie has always had a deep love for the ocean and its many inhabitants, which inspired her to study Marine Biology at Newcastle University. After then spending a number of years working in communications, supporting corporate clients on their campaigns and strategies in busy London agencies, Sophie moved to Australia last year to achieve a life-long dream of working as a guide on the Great Barrier Reef. This experience cemented her decision to dedicate her professional abilities to helping to protect the world’s ocean, and she is delighted to now be part of the team working to restore UK waters.

Sophie is a keen scuba diver and loves sea swimming. She is attempting to become a better surfer.
